A new regulation will be enacted by the U.S. Department of Transportation. Passenger aircraft are prohibited from carrying spare lithium batteries in their luggage. The regulation was launched to reduce the risk of fire in the aircraft. With lithium battery for allegedly is a strong cause of the fire occurred in the trunk of some aircraft.
Actually, passengers still are allowed to bring another spare battery. However, these batteries should be pinned on the device. Or if not, they must be wrapped in plastic and carried in their bags, not in the trunk. Regulations also restrict passengers to carry a spare battery is not more than two pieces.
In February 2006, the aircraft owned by United Parcel Service had to crash-land at the international airport in Florida after a crew found a fire which occurred in the trunk of the aircraft. National transportation Safety Board found the cause of the fire was apparently derived from some existing laptop batteries in the bag of a passenger.
Lithium batteries are the potential to cause fires because of the heat that hit the battery will cause damage to a short circuit.
